THE first Global Youth Cross-Border E-Commerce Digital Marketing Training Camp wrapped up yesterday at Shenzhen University’s College of International Exchange in Nanshan District.

Over the past two months, students from 21 countries attended lectures and visited local companies to learn about digital marketing strategies.

Juan D. Guerra, a Ph.D. student at Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, observed that the training camp was a great opportunity for international students to gain more working experience.

His team, named USGC, which stands for “Us Great Content,” won the first prize in the finals yesterday. Through their team’s practice project, Guerra learned that consumer behaviors are very different in China and Western countries.

One of Guerra’s discoveries is that people in Western countries are not fully ready to buy things promoted on TikTok. “The camp is also a good opportunity to meet international students from different universities in Shenzhen,” Guerra added.

Muhammad Shahroz Khalid, who is pursuing his doctoral research in civil engineering at Shenzhen University, is also interested in e-commerce business, which attracted him to join the training camp.

Khalid believed that e-commerce business has a great potential as more and more people buy products online, so the training provided a good learning opportunity, especially that he now has a better understanding of the e-commerce business in China.

The camp was an international practice program launched by the Yuehai Enterprise Service Center, aiming to provide students opportunities to cooperate with companies and to study cutting-edge digital marketing strategies.
